About This Activity

“Go Red for Heart Health” 5K Fun Run and Walk

To raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and raise funds that benefit heart disease research and education which are both missions of the American Heart Association, McAllen Heart Hospital and the Heart Clinic are hosting the 1st Annual “Go Red for Heart Health” 5K Fun Run and Walk.  Beginning and ending at McAllen Heart Hospital, the fitness event encourages participants to wear red to show support of heart health education in the Rio Grande Valley.  This event and health fair will be fun and informative.  Dressing up in your favorite RED outfit is encouraged!

McAllen Heart Hospital and The Heart Clinic

1900 S. “D” Street, McAllen / 500 E. Ridge Rd. (same location) 

7 a.m. on-site registration,packet pick-up, andHealth Fair (no cash or checks will be accepted, only credit cards) 

8:30 a.m. 5K Start  

$15 early registration fee; $20 couples or $20 on-site registration fee; $25 couples (credit card only, even on race day) 

Kids 12 and under are free.

100 percent of proceeds benefit the American Heart Association.

T-shirts will be given to the first 100 paid registrants and finishers medals provided to all.

Course: Begin at McAllen Heart Hospital. Travel west on Ridge Road, cross at Cynthia. Travel west to the 2nd Street Hike and Bike Trail and turn right, going over the highway. Continue to Dallas and return.

FREE PARKING available at the McAllen Heart Hospital/The Heart Clinic at 500 E. Ridge Rd. (start/finish line area) 

Refreshments, music and health information will be available before and after the 5K. There is no awards ceremony.
