About This Activity
Be a Super Hero for CASA-EP Kids!
Superhero 5k/10k Trail Run Doggie Dash – September 19, 2015
Thank you in advance for making a difference in the life of an abused child!
Join us for the annual “Be a CASA-EP Super Hero” 5k/10k Trail Run and Doggie Dash held at Poor House Farm Park September 19, 2015. Costumes are welcomed, and encouraged, with prizes for the best adult and children’s costume and doggie duo! The course starts and ends at the Rotary Pavilion, winding through the disk golf course and the beautiful jogging trails along the ridge. This is an off road course with some challenging fun elevations. You will have a built in band of supporters throughout, and everyone will be glad to see the “CASA-EP super heroes are here!”
All proceeds from the event benefit the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of the Eastern Panhandle, serving Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child placed is in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. Independent research has demonstrated that children with a CASA volunteer are substantially less likely to spend time in long-term foster care, and less likely to re-enter care.
One aid station is available for the 5k run, and two aid stations will be provided for 10k runners. Refreshments will be provided after the event to refuel.
Pre-registration is encouraged. Custom designed T Shirts are available for purchase until August 19 and the first 100 registrants will receive a free CASA-EP Superhero Bandana! Day of registration begins at 7:30 am on Sept 19 at the Rotary Pavilion.
