About This Activity

The 1st annual Children's Aid Society 5k & Hero 1 mile fun run will take place in a great wooded venue just on the outskirts of Washington DC. Whether you dress up in your favorite super hero (or villian costume) or just run like the Flash, the event is sure to be a fun time for adults and kids.
Children's Aid Society of Charles County's mission is to improve the quality of life for struggling Charles County families with children under age 18 by providing them with basic necessities of life including, but not limited to, clothing, food, rent/mortgage & utility assistance, educational classes, recreational activites and holiday assistance. Serving Charles County since 1936.                                      


Event details and schedule

Medals will be awarded to the two fastest kids under 13 and to the fastest woman and man in each of the two age categories. The largest team or school group will also receive a prize. There will be a prize for best costume as well.

The race takes place through Smallwood State Park. All participants will receive a race shirt and comic books as available.  Day of race registration and packet pick up opens at 7:30 a.m. and the 5k race starts at 8:30 a.m. The fun run will take place at 9:30 a.m.

There is ample parking near the starting line. There is a park entry fee that includes full access to the park for the day. So stay after the race and enjoy the beautiful park and wildlife!
