Pikes Peak Marathon Cut-Offs
Barr Camp (7.64 Miles): 3 hours. A-Frame (10.2 Miles): 4 hours, 15 minutes. Summit: 6 hours, 30 minutes. The cut-off times are strictly adhered to. In the event of severe weather, these cut-off times can be moved up for the safety of both runners and volunteers. The cut-off times were moved up in 2004, 2005 and 2008.
Finisher Technical Shirt
All runners who complete the race within the cut-off times will receive a finisher Technical Shirt. That is, you must finish the race (within cut-off times) to earn your Technical Shirt. If the cut-off times are moved up because of severe weather, you must meet the adjusted cut-off times to receive a finisher Technical Shirt.
See the individual race websites (above) for details on the various start locations for each leg of the TCR Series.
Weather On Pikes Peak
The weather on Pikes Peak can be very dangerous. Hail and lightening storms can develop very fast and put runners and volunteers in life-threatening danger. In the event of severe weather, cut-off times will be moved up for the safety of all involved. Cut-off times were moved up in 2004, 2005 and 2008.
Triple Crown Series
The 1st leg is the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run in June. The 2nd leg is the Summer Roundup Trail Run in July. The ascent portion of the Pikes Peak Marathon serves as the 3rd leg of the TCR series. If a runner finishes both the Pikes Peak Ascent and the Pikes Peak Marathon, the 3rd leg of the series is the faster of the two ascent portions of those races.
Can't run in the event and you still want to be a part of the action? Then get out there and volunteer and cheer on the runners. Dedicated volunteers are always needed. Check out the web site at www.pikespeakmarathon.org for a volunteer signup form. Volunteers on Pikes Peak must be 14 or older.
In addition to the awards for each individual race (see the individual race websites for details), the TCR Series awards will be presented to M/F for top 5 Overall, top 5 Masters, and top 3 in each 5-year Age Group. First place Overall and Masters winners also will receive a complimentary 2016 Series entry. Overall 2nd through 5th and Masters 2nd through 5th will receive a half-price 2016 Series entry.
16-19, and then proceeding in 5-year increments. Please note that you must be 16 or older to participate in this race.
Packet Pick-Up details will be posted to the individual race websites (listed above) a month or so before each race.
Expect anything. It is typically warm and dry in Manitou Springs. The higher you get, the more of a factor the weather can become. Thunderstorms are common during the summer in Colorado. You may experience those. If it's a cool summer day in Manitou Springs, expect it to be downright chilly above tree line (i.e., temps in the 30s).
