About This Activity

Welcome to the page for the Douglas M. Pink 5K Run/Walk for Glioblastoma Research. Doug passed away from Glioblastoma in September of 2013. His family will be hosting this race in his memory and to raise money for the Brain Tumor Society; all proceeds will go towards Glioblastoma research in hopes of one day discovering the cause and a cure for this terrible disease.
Doug was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather; successful and respected business owner; and an aviation enthusiast. He lived an active and healthy lifestyle. Doug competed in many mountain bike races, 5Ks, and fun runs. He loved spending time with his family doing everything from downhill skiing in Colorado, cross country skiing on their farm in southwest Wisconsin, bow hunting, golfing…anything to spend time outdoors as a family.
The logo for our 5K is an airplane in honor of Doug’s love for flying. Doug was always fascinated by aviation. When he was young he dreamt of being a Navy pilot taking off and landing from an aircraft carrier. Doug fulfilled his dream of flight when he became a licensed VFR/IFR certified pilot. He first flew a Piper Cherokee and grew into a Cirrus SR22 (aka Flaps). Doug took great pride in being able to fly.
This is the inaugural year for what we hope will become an annual event to honor Doug's life and raise awareness and funding to support Glioblastoma research.
Please sign up to participate in the Douglas M. Pink 5K Run/Walk for Glioblastoma Research and help the Pink family reach their goal of supporting Glioblastoma research so other families don’t have to experience similar heartache and loss. With the goal of raising money to support Glioblastoma research, we have chosen not to have timing at this event.
