The Perioperative (Surgery) Department at Valley Children's Hospital launched "George's Pass" in 2014.  It is a program to improve care and ease the hospital experience for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  George’s Pass team needs your help!  On Saturday April 16th, Valley Children’s Hospital is hosting a “Run with the Heroes” 5k Fun Run & Family Walk in partnership with The Autism Center at Fresno State.  We hope to raise awareness and funds to support our program. People like you make it possible for us to make the difference in the lives of all children! All funds raised will support George’s Pass.

Program highlights include:
·       A George’s Pass icon on charts and hospital room doors to identify ASD patients
·       A  tour of the surgery department and practice kit of hospital items
·       A “Social Story” for each patient.  The book guides the child step-by-step through the hospital experience.
·       iPads with Autism-friendly apps, communication tools and sensory regulating  toys
·       Decreased wait time in surgery waiting room and busy emergency department
·       Private post-op recovery rooms where parents are welcome prior to their child awakening from anesthesia

Dress up as your favorite superhero and run, walk or fly to the finish!!  Please join us to make our inaugural "Run with the Heroes"  a big success!!  The 5k event will be Chip Timed and strollers are welcome.
