Welcome to the fourth annual Sage Lake Firecracker 5k!
The 3.1-mile run/walk pays for the lake's annual Fourth of July fireworks display, which is one of the biggest and best in northern Michigan.
We'll see you at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, at the intersection of Maple and Kenyon roads. Parking is across the street for your convenience.
We love to introduce new elements each year, and for 2017 we're excited to announce the race will be timed.
We also are introducing a new lake-wide raffle for a new stand-up paddle board after the run. Those ticket sales will begin in April, and you need not be present to win on July 1. We will also have the same race-day raffle after the finish for gift baskets, water toys, Sage Lake gear and more. Registered participants get one free raffle ticket; additional tickets will be $1 each.
Participants will receive a race bib, a T-shirt and a Sage Lake 5k participation medal. Because the race will be timed, we also will be awarding medals to winners. We are in the process of working out those details.
If you don't want to run or walk but would love to be with us on race day and support the fireworks, please register for the Zero K and to receive the Sage Lake Firecracker 5K race shirt, just like everyone else.
Parking is somewhat limited. Please carpool with your friends and neighbors, if you are able. We loved that so many people drove four-wheelers to the race last year.
Thank you again for supporting this event and the fireworks. We can't wait to see you on July 1 for another beautiful, fun morning right on the lake. Please feel free to share this link on your Facebook page. The more the merrier!
Participants who register after June 3 are not guaranteed a T-shirt. Online registration closes on Wednesday, June 28.
Race day registration:$30 (cash or check only); shirt availability is not guaranteed.
