About This Activity

The Great Commission Race is an annual race in Louisville, Ky., hosted by the Bevin Center for Missions Mobilization at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. This race unites the city of Louisville and Southern’s campus to work towards the seminary’s goals in fitness, fellowship and fundraising for missions. All proceeds and donations benefit those participating in mission trips through Southern Seminary.

5K Race:

The race begins and ends on Southern Seminary’s beautiful campus on the main lawn, and continue down Lexington Road and through the bending streets of Cherokee Park.

Kids Mile:

The Kids Mile is a 1-mile race that will consist of a full loop around Southern’s campus, beginning and ending on the main lawn, and it will continue around a few of Southern’s most notable buildings such as Duke McCall Sesquicentennial Pavilion, Norton Hall, James P. Boyce Centennial Library and Legacy Hotel.

Refreshments will be provided for all participants after the race.

All proceeds and donations benefit students participating in mission trips with Southern Seminary. Runners and walkers may also choose to raise additional support by participating in the Miles for Missions initiative. Miles for Missions gives participants an opportunity to earn free race admission, raise support for specific missionaries and receive other benefits and prizes.

Every year the Bevin Center at Southern coordinates several national and international missions with an emphasis on cross-cultural evangelism, discipleship, and service in accord with the Great Commission.

More information about these trips can be found on the Bevin Center site.
