The Expo Ride at the Brentwood Grand Prix
Sun, Aug 3, 2014
Los Angeles, CA
About This Activity
The Expo Ride is a non-competitive community ride associated with the Brentwood Grand Prix criterium bicycle race on Sunday August 3, 2014. The goal of the ride is to get community members to come learn about cycling options on the Westside of Los Angeles and beyond, and particularly about how the Expo Line train can help get you where you want to go anywhere in the region. We also would like to help cycling become a bigger and bigger part of the community and to help make it safer for everyone. Join the community and show you support more transit options for Los Angeles, and have fun along the way! You can even get a chance to ride with Nelson Vails, a silver medalist in cycling at the 1984 Olympics!
At the Brentwood Grand Prix Expo you can not only watch the exciting bike races and enjoy the great food available, but will be able to learn about cycling safety and laws as well as about cycling products of all types.
All finishers will get a FREE shaved ice from Pinkberry when they return to the Expo and you can park your bike at the Bike Valet offered by LA County Bicycle Coalition.
At the Expo you can also get screened for skin cancer, as both the Brentwood Grand Prix and the Expo Ride are raising money to fight melanoma for the Melanoma Research Alliance. You can help to raise money for MRA as well as the Bicycle Coalition as a part of your registration for the Expo Ride. The skin cancer screenings are done using the American Academy of Dermatology's SPOT Me protocol and conducted by local dermatologists.
See you there!

You can ride to the event or parking the VA Parking Lot, wtih the entrance on Wilshire Blvd.
Please wear whatever is comfortable and safe, but you MUST wear a helmet on the ride. You probably should have a cell phone and a patch kit, a spare tube an a pump as well as always ride with ID.
Also, always wear sunscreen and don't miss the opportunity for a free skin cancer screening at the Expo area, which is part of our fundraiser for the Melanoma Research Alliance.
