If you’ve never joined a Google Hangout before on your computer, you may need to install a plugin.
Click Join. If you see an error message here, you are probably not logged in to your @californiatriathlon.org email address or it is not the current account. At the bottom of the screen, under JOIN, it will say the account you are joining with. If it’s not your @cailforniatriathlon.org email address, click the SWITCH ACCOUNT link.
Once you’re in the hangout, you should see a number of buttons at the top of the window to control whether or not your video displays or if you want to mute yourself.
Please try logging in at least once in advance of the call to ensure that you’ve done it correctly and are able to join.
Google Hangouts allow people to join via mobile as well (using the app), but it can use a lot of data and battery, so I would recommend that you use wifi and have your phone plugged in if you are not joining from a computer.
Once you are in the call, you’ll see the other participants at the bottom of the screen. Whenever someone talks, their face will appear in the main window. If you want to isolate on someone, just click their box at the bottom and the screen won’t change. Click again to unselect.
The blue box on the upper left is the chat box. Click it to open chat. Click again to close the chat.
The green box with an arrow in it on the upper left is for screenshare. Click it if you want to share your desktop and follow the instructions.
