About This Activity

On April 13, 2012, at age 6, Gage Tanner was diagnosed with a brain tumor called Ganglioglioma on his brain stem, therefore inoperable. The actual tumor is not rare, it is the location that is rare, he is case #32 EVER so we have had to do mainly experimental treatment on him and just trust in the Lord that he will be healed. He has been through 2 shunt surgeries, 8 brutal weeks of proton radiation therapy that did not work, pseudomonas from the feeding tube that was this time he was unable to swallow, numerous pneumonias, hpmv, rhinovirus…he has been in the hospital 75% of the last 2 years. The tumor had grown tremendously back in March 2013 and he had “debulking surgery”; they could only get about 50% of the tumor. The tumor was biopsied and showed mutation (we were told that it was only a 10% chance that he could have this) anyway….he did! He is now on an experimental chemotherapy that is KILLING this tumor!! He has been on it since July 2013 taking it twice a day. A MRI back in December 2013 showed “a dramatic decrease” which is what we have all been praying for. Gage is an amazing young man, he is so courageous and strong willed. He always has a smile on his face no matter what, he is the most caring and thoughtful child that I have ever met.
