About This Activity

Join us for the inaugural BreyerFest© 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 8:00am at the Kentucky Horse Park Alltech Arena in Lexington, KY.

There will be a PACKET PICKUP (Where you can come in advance of the race to pickup your race bib and race shirt) on Saturday, July 23rd from 4:30-8:30on just outside the main entrance to Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.  This packet pickup will occur before/during/after the Celebration of Horses event at the arena which runs from 6:30-8pm.  Since we'll be outside of the arena you won't need a ticket to the event to get your packet.  We will also have on-site registration during this packet pickup time.  You may also pickup your packet or register in person on race morning from 6:30-8am at Alltech Arena before the race begins.

In honor of the summer games, BreyerFest is celebrating Carnival, Rio, and the sights and sounds of Brazil! The race includes commemorative T-shirts (first 475 registrants), chip timing, awards including Breyer models for winners, a DJ spinning samba sounds, post race snacks, and a raffle with cool Breyer swag and more!

Sign up today!

We'll also have an untimed 1 mile fun run/walk for those not interested in the full 5K (3.1 mile) distance. If you can't make the race but want to support the cause you can register as a Virtual Runner/Walker and we'll send you your commemorative race T-shirt.

Age groups for the 5K will be 0-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44,45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69,70+

Strollers and dogs on leashes are permitted.  We ask these participants to start toward the middle or back of the pack so we don't have congestion at the start of the race.

A portion of proceeds will benefits Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farms (    Founded in 2003 by former Boston Globe film critic Michael Blowen, Old Friends is a Thoroughbred Retirement Facility in Georgetown, KY that now cares for more than 155 horses whose racing and breeding careers came to an end. A “living history museum of horse racing”, the farm attracts nearly 20,000 tourists annually that get up close and personal with such stars of the turf as 1997 Kentucky Derby winner Silver Charm, three-time Santa Anita Handicap victor Game on Dude, Breeders’ Cup Sprint Champion Gulch and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Alphabet Soup. By promoting these one-time celebrated horses through a campaign of education and tourism, Old Friends aims to draw attention to the need for widespread Thoroughbred aftercare. The farm is open to the public for tours daily. Reservations are required. Please call (502) 863-1775.
