About This Activity

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio and Red Shoe Society presents the inaugural Red Shoe Run 5K Scavenger Hunt benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio (RMHC).  RMHC serves families with seriously ill children by providing a home away from home at the Columbus Ronald McDonald House just steps away from Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Explore Grandview with us in a 5k Scavenger Hunt Run/Walk starting at Wright-Patt Credit Union and ending with a cold beer at Ohio Taproom. Participants will be given a list of clues to take them through a 5k scavenger course down the streets of Grandview. The race will kick off at Wright-Patt Credit Union and end with a finisher celebration (including your first beer free for all registered runners) at Ohio Tap Room. There will be games and activities for kids!

  • Participants must show ID for packet pick up
  • If picking up for other participants, please have a copy of their registration email on hand


  • All participants must arrive to the start line by 3:30pm for any final race call outs and to receive their first location clue 
  •      Race to start on time at 4:00pm
  • The course is OPEN for 2 hours; walkers must be able to walk at a pace of 38 minutes per mile to complete the 5k within the scheduled time.
  • The roads will remain open during the run so use caution when crossing streets and alleyways
  •      Stay to sidewalks when possible
  • There will be a water stop along the route as well as signs/volunteers at each location to provide clues to get participants to the next location
  • Top two (2) finishers will receive prizes
  • All finishers will receive a beer at Ohio Tap Room 
  •      Finishers will need to present their valid ID and bib tear off to the Red Shoe Run volunteers
  • Every participant receives an official Red Shoe Run 5k & Scavenger Hunt shirt
  • Gear check will be available to all participants 
  •      Write your name/number on the back of the gear check bib tear off
  •      Gear drop off: Wright-Patt Credit Union
  •      Gear pick up: Ohio Tap Room
  •           All gear must be picked up by 7:00pm
  • The event will take place Rain or Shine, in the event of severe weather take shelter in the nearest public location
  • No pets will be allowed to participate in the scavenger hunt


  • All participants will start at Wright-Patt Credit Union
  • Participants have a total of five (5) scavenger locations to find; including the finish line at Ohio Tap Room
  • Participants will be handed a clue at each location by a Red Shoe Run volunteer
  • If participants can’t solve the clue they will be given the opportunity to pay a $10 donation (cash only) to get the name of the next scavenger location
  • Participants will need to have a phone or other digital camera device 
  • At each location participants will be asked to take a photo with a specific item and post to social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) using the location hashtag and #redshoesandclues
