About This Activity

31st Annual Open Options Shawnee Mission Triathlon & Duathlon

The 31st Annual Open Options Shawnee Mission Triathlon & Duathlon are one of the Kansas City's premier racing events. This closed course event offers a Short Triathlon Course, a Long Triathlon Course, and new this year a Duathlon Course. All of the courses are routed in Shawnee Mission Park and on the Mill Creek Streamway Trail which adjoins to the park. Aid stations will be placed at transition and at every other mile on the run course. Athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31st of this year (2015). The 2015 Open Options Shawnee Mission Triathlon & Duathlon is an USAT Sanctioned Event.
Open Options Team Captains

New this year, Open Options, formerly known as United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Kansas City, will be engaging persons with disabilities as “Team Captains” to provide encouragement and inspiration to participants through emails, videos and social media. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the designated Team Captains. These Captains will be present on event day to meet their teams as well as hand out finisher’s medals. As a Team Member you may choose to make a donation by creating a fundraising page (at the time of your event registration) or ask others to make a donation to your team on your behalf. While not mandatory for participation, your donation is greatly appreciated. 100% of the donations will go directly to Open Options and make a significant difference in the lives of people with disabilities.

Here are instructions on how to start your fundraising page: http://jcprd.com/special_events/pdf/SMP_tri/2015/2015_SMTri_FundraisingInstructions.pdf
