About This Activity

The 3rd annual Leesburg Heroes Run takes place on a scenic course through the beautiful historic SW Georgia town of Leesburg.

The event includes a special memorial and thank you to our hometown heroes at the opening ceremonies.

The Heroes Run had over 250 participants in 2014 and we are anticipating at least 350 this year so make sure to register early!

The purpose of this Heroes Run is to honor our first responders and our United States military by remembering the sacrifices made by Leesburg's own Lance Corporal Steve Sutton, USMC.  Steve Sutton bravely fought for his country and gave his life defending the principles of honor, courage and commitment. These qualities live on within the citizens of our community and we are committed to preserving them and passing them on to future generations. This Heroes Run serves to "preserve those character qualities that are the foundation of our Nation's and Community’s greatness." Together let us run in honor of  LCpl Sutton, and those that have served and currently serve our nation with honor to support The House that Valor Built.

The proceeds from this event will go to the Flint River Habitat for Humanity "House that Valor Built" Project.  The House that Valor Built will be the first Habitat Home for a veteran within the Leesburg Community. The goal of Habitat's "House that Valor Built" is to build houses for Lee County’s Veterans in need.
