About This Activity

The JCC Kids Triathlon provides a fun and healthy opportunity to help children stay active this summer. By combining swimming, biking and running in one sport, participants benefit from well-rounded fitness workouts, enhancing their endurance and strength, and having a lot of fun!  This race is open to all fitness levels and this is the 11th Annual!

JCC Youth Triathlon Event Details:

Date: Sunday, June 28, 2015

Time: 7:00 a.m.

Location: Jewish Community Center of Kansas City

Address: 5801 West 115th Street, Overland Park, Kansas.

Fees: $41 individuals/$75 teams

Free Bicycle Drawing: All participants are automatically entered in a drawing for a free bicycle courtesy of Bike America, in Lee's Summit, Overland Park, and Olathe. Go to Bike America for all your triathlon gear!


Tri for Tots: 25 yard walk/swim, .75 mile bike, .25 mile run.

Short Course :Ages 6-10 100 yard pool swim, 3 mile bike, and 1 mile run.

Long Course : Ages 11-14: 200 meter pool swim, 6 mile bike, and 2.0 mile run.

Elite Course : Ages 15-17: 300 meter pool swim, 9.0 mile bike, 3.0 mile run.

Tri for Tots: We welcome kids 3,4 and 5 to our Tri for Tots™ Triathlon Division. Now everyone can get into the action with a 25 yard kiddie pool swim, a .75 mile bike, and .25 run. This will be a non-competitive event with relaxed rules. Floats, water wings, tricycles, training wheels, and parents on the course for this portion of the event are all legal! The entry fee for the Tri Tots Division is $20.50. USAT membership is not required for Tri for Tots.

Teen Elite Division: This year we will once again have our Elite Teen Division, for youth ages 15 to 17. Race with the best and be the best!

Register the Entire Family: Families who enter three or more siblings in the Individual Division receive a 50% entry fee discount on the third, fourth or fifth child entered.

Awards& Age Groups: Tri for Tots: ages 3, 4 & 5. Individual: 8 and Under(short course); 9-10(short course); 11-12 (long course); 13-14(long course). Teen Elites 15-17. Relay (team members ages totaled) 27 and under(short course) 28 and up (long course). NOTE: Pursuant to USA Triathlon Rules the age of an athlete is his or her age on December 31 of the year of the event.

USA Triathlon (Important): This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. All youth participants must be a member of USAT. A membership must be purchased in advance of the race. With the ONE TIME payment, youth triathletes will be eligible to compete in ALL triathlons for the remainder of their annual membership. TRiKIDS Midwest Series: Double your fun, be part of the TRiKIDS Midwest Series. Participate in the both the Longview Jr. Triathlon and the JCC Youth Triathlon and earn points based on your finish time to be a TRiKIDS Midwest Series winner. group. The overall male and female will winner in the 10 and under, 11-14, and Teen Elite divisions will win a special trophy and the title of Best TRiKID in the Midwest. The TRiKIDS Points Series Awards will be determined after the completion of the Longview race.

Chip Timing: The JCC KIDS TRIATHLON will have chip timing. Chips are put on the athletes prior to them entering the pool area by our staff.

Packet Pickup and Race Orientation: Participants and parents are REQUIRED to attend a pre-race orientation session. The Pre Race Orientation will be held at the Jewish Community Center on: Thursday, June 25th, at 7:00 p.m. Participants will receive a participant packet, event T-shirt, course information, and tips on various aspects of the event.
