About This Activity
Raising Obesity Awareness. Changing Lives.
More than 93 million Americans are affected by the disease of obesity. Here in Georgia, our obesity rate is 17th in the country. More than 65% of our residents battle this disease. The Center for Weight Management at Gwinnett Medical Center–Duluth is doing everything we can to bring attention to this lethal disease. Now, we need your help. Help us raise awareness about obesity by joining us for our Annual 5K walk/run. Whether you’re walking or running for yourself or someone else, you’ll help Gwinnett Medical Center educate others about the importance of weight loss. All proceeds from this fun 5K will go to the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation to help in our fight against obesity.
Have Fun Too/Wear a Costume!
This year we are making a few changes to continue to make this event bigger and better than ever! We encourage folks to come dressed in costume (individually or in a team-theme). Make it good...there will be an award for the best costume!! Come one, come all!! We hope to see you there whether or not you are not in costume.
Chopper from the Gwinnett Braves will be there to cheer you on! Stop and get a candid photo with the mascot along the way! Molly the Chick-fil-A Cow will welcome you across the finish line!
This event is to help introduce 5K's to beginner's and we'll have a special "Beginner" award category and prizes. A Beginner is anyone has run 0, 1 5K's. When you register you wil be asked about your status and if you choose "yes" as a beginner than we'll enter you into this division!
4-legged runners are welcome at this event. All dogs must remain on a leash and owners must clean up after them. The park has pet waste stations throughout the park. We will have watering stations and finish line treats for these runners.
To further help us raise money for the fight against obesity there will be a raffle held prior to the finisher announcements. Prizes from our sponsors will be raffled to those that have purchased raffle tickets at the event. Each ticket will be $1 and can be entered to win your prize of choice.
