About This Activity

The 9th annual Kansas Half Marathon & 5K is Sunday, November 1st, 2015!  Runners will gather at Watson Park in downtown Lawrence to kick off an exciting 13.1 mile and 5k course.

This event offers chip timing, USATF certified course, t-shirt & gift bags, FREE race photos, music, food, and more.

Health Care Access is proud to present this event, with proceeds supporting their mission to facilitate access to health services for uninsured, low-income residents of Douglas County Kansas.

Event details and schedule

Event Date: Sunday, November 1st, 2015

  • Half Marathon kicks off at 7:30 AM with 5K soon after.
    • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before if you picked up your race packet or 30 minutes before if you still need to register and/or get the race packet

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be postponed as long as possible in hopes the inclement weather will pass. No refunds or transfers will be issued if the event is canceled due to inclement weather.



Male & Female Age Groups: 5-Year Increments (14 & Under 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+)


Awards will be presented to the Top Overall Male & Top Overall Female Champions in both races

Awards will be presented to the Top Three males and Top Three Females in each age group in both races


Downtown Lawrence has free public spaces all day on Sunday, the day of the event. There are two parking garages located only blocks from the start of the race, click here for a downtown parking guide.


At packet pickup, you will receive in envelope that contains your bib that has your timing chip attached. These chips are not reusable; they are yours to keep.

There will be an aid station every two miles along the course. Get water and Gatorade at these stations to stay hydrated while you run.


There will be portable toilets at the start/finish line and at all the aid stations except for the levee turnaround aid station.


Once you reach the finish line there will be water and heat blankets available. Runners in the half marathon be sure your bib is visible so that you will receive your finisher’s medal.
