About This Activity

The Optimist Club of Las Cruces is a civic club/charitable organization that supports the youth of Las Cruces and Dona Ana County. The Tour de Optimism is a fundraising ride to support our club projects. Examples of club projects include: bicycle repair in conjunction with Safe Routes to School and the Southern NM Bike Educators; college scholarships; respect for law; youth appreciation; support of local youth organizations, e.g. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Club, etc.; support for childhood cancer research and indirect support to families battling childhood cancer, e.g. Ronald McDonald House Charities, and one of our premier events, the Bob Ogas North/South All-Star Classic Baseball series. Event details and schedule

Routes meander through the Mesilla Valley. Courses share the road with vehicular traffic. All routes begin and end at the Arrowhead Park Early College High School just south of the Fulton Center on the campus of New Mexico State University. Registration is from 0700 to 0800 on ride day. This is a RIDE and not a RACE. Riders must obey all traffic laws and must wear helmets throughout the course. Ride offers three break stations on the 100KM course and one break station on the 50KM course. Full SAG wagon support for all courses. Ride ends at 3:00 PM at which time the course will be swept to collect riders that are still on the course.
