Runners and walkers of all experience levels are invited to participate in this chip-timed event. The 5K and 10k courses wind through a beautiful and scenic 178 acre property on natural (unpaved) trails along the Grand River. Participants will experience breathtaking fall beauty as they traverse our restored prairie, pine forest, wetlands, and hardwood forest. The running surface is varied and includes packed earth, crushed limestone, and grass. There are occasional rocks and roots, and there may be a few muddy spots depending on the weather, so cautious running is encouraged.
Childrens activities offered during and after the 5k/10 events. Refreshments provided following the 5k/10k events. Pets are not allowed on the course. Participants may walk with strollers, but should be prepared for narrow sections of the trail, steps, and bumpy terrain.
This event is an important fundraiser for the nonprofit Woldumar Nature Center which provides science and nature education programs to over 5000 students each year and offers daily walk-in recreation opportunity to the public.
