About This Activity

The Triple Threat Series is back! Join Black Hills Triathlon, Lakewood SummerFEST Triathlon, and the JBLM Triathlon for a summer of races! Check out the cool  new medal at This Triple Threat Series consists of three Triathlons beginning on Sunday, June 26 with the Black Hills Sprint Triathlon in Lacey. The second race of the series is in Lakewood, at the Fifth Annual SummerFEST Sprint Triathlon on Saturday, July 9. The series wraps up on Saturday, August 20 with a Sprint or Olympic Triathlon on JBLM. YOU DO NOT SIGN UP FOR EACH RACE INDIVIDUALLY. Simply register here for the Triple Threat and you will be signed up for all three.  Upon completion of all three triathlons, Triple Threat participants will receive entry in a raffle for a grand prize, a Triple Threat Series t-shirt and medal. These are in addition to the Race T's and Medals given at each individual Triathlon. Check out each website (listed below) for more details on each race!

The Black Hills Triathlon in Lacey is a premier, USAT sanctioned, sprint distance triathlon organized by a team of event specialists who are passionate about providing a safe and well-organized race of the highest quality. Our race is uniquely suited to both the beginning triathlete and the seasoned competitor and features a ½ mile swim in beautiful Long Lake, a 17 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.

Saturday, June 25th, 3-6pm, Thurston County Fairgrounds. Bike drop off to our secure transition area is permitted during this time.

5:30am - Transition opens

7am - Mandatory pre-race meeting at the lake near the swim exit

7:30am - RACE WAVES BEGIN

10am - Awards Ceremony near the finish line

All participants must have an annual USA Triathlon membership card. You must bring your annual USA Triathlon membership card and photo ID to show at packet pickup. If you are not a member, then you must show your receipt for your annual (not one day)  membership OR purchase an annual membership on site. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE WITHOUT THIS.

The Lakewood SummerFEST Triathlon, held in Lakewood, Washington, is a fun and competitive USAT Sanctioned Sprint Triathlon. The course consists of a ½ mile swim starting and ending from the shores of American Lake Park; a 14-mile bike course looped through the streets of Lakewood, Steilacoom, JBLM and Pierce County, and a 3.1-mile run through the trails at Fort Steilacoom Park.

Packet Pick-up:

Friday, July 8, 11:00-1:30 and 4:30-6:30 pm at Lakewood City Hall (6000 Main Street SW, Lakewood, 98499 room 1E) and Saturday July 9, 7:30am at Fort Steilacoom Park 8714 87th Ave SW.

You must be present and show your picture ID in order to pick up your race packet! Friends/relatives are not allowed to pick up your packet for you. It is strictly against USAT rules for anyone to pick up a packet without proper Identification and verification from race officials.

USA Triathlon Card

The Lakewood SummerFEST is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. All participants must have an annual  USA Triathlon membership card. Please note that this race has two transition areas.The swim begins at American Lake Park 9222 Veterans Drive SW 98499,  which is Transition 1. Transition 2, where athletes place their bikes and begin the run, is at Fort Steilacoom Park 8714 87th Ave SW, 98499. Racers place their belongings for the run at transition 2 (Fort Steilacoom Park), and can either take a free shuttle, or ride their bikes to American Lake Beach Park where the race begins. SummerFEST takes place at Fort Steilacoom Park at 11:00am as athletes finish the race. There is fun for the whole family! Enjoy live music, beer garden, food trucks, art activities, children's races, kids multi-sporting events, and an international festival. 6:30am – 8:45am: T1 and T2 areas open for gear staging. Only racers with body numbers and wrist bands may enter the transition areas for staging their own gear.

6:30am – 8:20am: Shuttle bus running from Fort Steilacoom Park to American Lake Park.

JBLM Sprint Triathlon (Not Sanctioned)
Saturday, August 20, 2016 

 Joint Base Lewis-McChord MWR welcomes you to participate in our triathlon. This is the final triathlon in the Triple Threat Series. The swim starts in American Lake at Beautiful Shoreline Park, with the bike and run courses winding through the streets of JBLM on the Lewis side. The Sprint distance includes a 500 M Swim, a 14-mi bike and a 5K run. The Olympic distance includes a 1500 M Swim, a 25-mi bike and a 10K run.

After the race enjoy refreshments, door prize drawings and an awards ceremony for top finishers. There will be age group awards for the Top three male and female finishers. There will also be a Grand Prize awarded to the participant with the best overall time who competed in all three triathlons.

If you have Zero Military Affiliation and need to be on the access list, you must register by August 19, 2015.

All participants without military affiliation must take exit 120 to Lewis Main, and stop at the Visitor’s Center. Directions to Shoreline Park after leaving the Visitor’s Center: Take a left turn out of the parking lot onto 41st Division Drive. Go through the Gate Guard (Security) for JBLM North. At the first Traffic Light Turn Right onto San Francisco. Once on San Francisco Ave turn slightly left onto American Lake Ave. Turn right onto Shoreline Beach Road. Destination will at the end of the road, and parking will be in the gravel lot to the left.

Packet Pick-up:

Friday, August 28th from 5pm-9pm at Shoreline Park. Packet pick-up on race day will start at 7:30am.
