About This Activity

Come join us in June 2015 in the Olympic Village of Lake Placid, New York USA!

The 11th Annual Lake Placid Marathon & Half is a premier early season race hosted in the historic Olympic Village of Lake Placid, New York USA home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games surrounded by the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.

Each year the event attracts 2,000 athletes from over 40 U.S States, Canada and abroad.

The Half Marathon is a single loop out and back while the Marathon is a double out and back with a modified second loop. Each race begin on Main Street in the charming Village of Lake Placid and ends on the 400 meter outdoor speed skating oval track where U.S Speed Skater Eric Heiden achieved an unprecedented five gold medals in 1980.

The course is a combination of flat, rolling and some hills and runners enjoy mountain views, open areas, shaded areas, a class III trout stream and beautiful Mirror Lake along the way. The course surface is mainly hard with some gravel in the Marathon.

Ten (10) well stocked aid stations are available for the Half Marathon; 18 for the Marathon. The event offers a generous six (6) hour course limit for each race.

Free Athlete food at the Race Finish. Quality Finisher medal and 2015 performance race T-shirt.

The Lake Placid Marathon & Half was ranked the #2 “Best Destination” Race in the USA by a Runner’s World Magazine reader survey (source; Jan. 2010 issue).

The event is Walker Friendly and a great venue for a Team or Group destination event.
