About This Activity

The Lake Area Runners Contraband Days 5 Miler is a long standing Lake Charles tradition! It is the second race in our Triple Crown Race Series after our Athletes Corner St. Patricks Day 3 Miler, and before our Four Miler on the Fourth on July 4th. The 5 Miler takes place in the middle of Lake Charles premier festival, Contraband Days The Louisiana Pirate Festival. Contraband Days is an annual festival in Southwest Louisiana that provides quality family entertainment for residents and visitors of all ages and cultural backgrounds, while celebraing Lake Charles storied swashbuckling heritage.

The race takes you on a 5 mile out and back loop through scenic downtown Lake Charles, Louisiana, and along our beautiful Lake Shore. After the race you'll enjoy food and drink, and CASH prizes for Top 3 Overall Male and Female, as well as the top one finishers in each age group.

Lake Area Runners is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. All of the proceeds from our races go to help put on more races in the Lake Area. Without runners like you who support local races, we wouldn't have local races! So sign up, have a great time, and ensure that local races stay a tradition in Lake Charles.
