Color Me Courageous 5k Color Run
Sat, Apr 11, 2015
Lake Charles, LA
Running-5K - Individual Age group/open
About This Activity
MaciFest was created through the vision of Maci Fontenot (now 10 yrs. old), who at the age of 4, was diagnosed with an Optical Glioma (brain tumor). During her journey to recovery, she was given the opportunity to meet the Jonas Brothers through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The experience made a huge impact on her. She began her mission to make a difference and encourage other children to get involved. She is also working with the Texas Children's Hospital Optical Glioma research team to help find a cure for the blind to see again through the sale of her published book You Can't Take My Vision! (youcanttakemyvision.jimdo.com). Although Maci lost all vision in her left eye due to the tumor, she is alive and well and using her story to make good things come from something that did not feel so good. Our slogan is “Having fun while making a difference”. The Color Me Courageous 5k Color Run is the perfect event to have fun doing while making a difference! The run itself will take place around the McNeese State University Football Stadium. Proceeds raised from the run will go to benefit St Jude Childrens Research Hospital and The St Nicholas Center For Children!
Event details and schedule
The run will begin at 9am from the McNeese State University Field House on April 11th. Packet pickup, where runners will pick up their bib, goodies, and safety gear will be from 8am-8:45.
