About This Activity

The Pilot Fireball Moonlite Classic 5K is part of the KTC Summer Series! Run two of the three events, volunteer for at least one, and earn a special prize! Date, Time & Place: Monday, July 3, 2018 at 9:00 PM. University of Tennessee Vet School (2407 River Dr. Knoxville, TN 37996) . Pre- and Post-Race staging to take place in the parking lot adjacent to Joe Johnson Drive in front of the school.

Course Description and Highlights: USATF certified TN10045MS . Out and back on Neyland Drive!

Registration & Entry Fee (NO REFUNDS OR BIB TRANSFERS): Coupon Policy: Please note that only one coupon per person may be used when registering for KTC events. One coupon may be used in addition to KTC Member discount, Team Member discount, and potential no-shirt discount. Any coupons must be entered at checkout.        

AGE BASED PRICING! 5K Cost for ages 4-12 through June 25 is $10 and cost for ages 13-17 is $15. Age based pricing is only available through early online registration. Deadline to register using this pricing structure is June 25. It is not available for late registration at either packet pickup or on race day. KTC Members are eligible for $5 discount. Cost for ages 18 and over **Early Bird is $20 for 5k from 3/24-3/31. $30 from April 1-June 29th. Late registration is $35 from June 30th-July 3rd. Little Firecracker Kids Mile cost is $10 through June 29th and $15 during late registration and on race day.

PACKET PICKUP: Runners Market in Western Plaza will host a packet pickup on June 30th from 11am-3pm.

ON SITE PACKET PICKUP will begin at 6pm Tuesday,  July 3rd.

Kids Mile: Registration includes a shirt and a special finisher's prize. Open to kids aged 4-12. Kids race starts at 8:00 PM.

T-shirts: Pre-registered runners will receive unisex t-shirts. Please note our 2017 shirt policy: Anyone registering after June 14th will receive shirts while supplies last. The shirt order will be placed on June 15th and when the inventory runs out in the RunSignUp system then there will be no more shirts. No re-orders.

Awards: Awards to the top 3 Overall, top Masters (40+), Grandmasters (50+), Senior Grandmasters (60+) male and female. Awards to the top 3 in each age group as well as Overall Clydesdale (men over 200 lbs.) and Overall Athena (Women over 150 lbs.) Prizes not picked up on race day will be available at Eddie's Health Shoppe for two weeks following the event. Awards will not be shipped.

Grand Prix Points: 2018 Grand Prix Series Presented by Threds points will be awarded. Remember, to be eligible for Grand Prix Series Presented by Threds awards, you must be a KTC member and volunteer in at least 3 KTC events. This event is also on the 2018 KTC Grand Prix Series Presented by Threds team competition schedule.

Refreshments: A variety of post-race refreshments and goodies will be provided for participants.

Results: Complete Results will be available at ktc.org or via the mobile app available in the iTunes or Google Play store. In addition, make sure to sign up for results notifications during the registration process that will be sent directly to you or friends and family once you cross the finish line!

Race Etiquette: Due to insurance regulations, roller blades, bicycles and dogs are not allowed on the course. Headphones are strongly discouraged.

Weather: Averages: High 87 Low 66. If past races are any indication, it will be a steamy evening, as typical late afternoon thundershowers are a good possibility.

KTC Safety Policy:

KTC’s mission is to encourage lifelong physical well-being through running and walking. That is accomplished through a variety of events and programming.
The Knoxville Track Club puts the safety of its participants, spectators, staff and volunteers first. Dangerous weather conditions pose a unique challenge to an event of any size, distance or location.

Therefore, KTC has adopted the following Inclement Weather Policy:
Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event, with special attention placed on the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures and humidity. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these conditions on Knoxville Track Club’s website (www.ktc.org), as well as through other available means of communication such as e-mail, Twitter, Facebook and public address announcements.
The Executive Director and Race Director in consultation, when available, with law enforcement, fire/EMS, other medical officers and other officials, will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: Altering the start time, altering the course, or in extreme situations cancellation of the event. Visible lightning occurring within 30 minutes of the scheduled start will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 30-minute increments up to a maximum of 3 delays.
Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race or modify the course due to inclement weather. As stated on registration and race pages, there are no refunds or transfers. Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so by the race personnel, medical staff, fire/paramedics or police personnel.
