About This Activity

Join us for the best St. Patrick's Day 5k in Knoxville! The race begins at Barley's Pizzeria and Taproom in the Old City on Sunday, March 16th at 2:00pm. Your entry free includes a cool T-shirt, pizza, and TWO FREE beers! The best part is that you get to have all this fun while supporting a great cause!(Must be 21+ to drink)On April 26, 2014, 7 of us will be participating in the Nashville Rock ‘N” Roll Full/Half Marathon as members on the Pink It To The Limit team. We are running this full and half marathon in memory of a lost friend, Carrie Daugherty, and to raise money for a fantastic organization that was dear to her heart: Emily’s Power for a Cure. You don't have to run the marathon, but we hope that you'll join us at this 5k!Here is the scoop:Emily's Power for a Cure was created after Emily Ransom, Carrie's niece, lost her life to Neuroblastoma on February 20, 2006 at the tender age of 2. Neuroblastoma is a cancerous tumor that develops from nerve tissue in infants and children. After Emily died, Carrie quickly took to fundraising for Emily's Power for a Cure. Unfortunately, it was just two years later that another tragedy struck the Ransom and Daugherty Family. On March 19, 2008 Carrie was murdered. Her killer was successfully tried and convicted in November 2011, and is now spending the rest of his life in prison. And that is where we come in. After Carrie's death, we took up her fundraising effort. Last year Barley's Big Family raised over $20,000, which contributed to the $115,00 total that Emily’s Power For The Cure raised in 2013. This year, we want to raise even more!
