About This Activity

Event Information:  Nuru International, founded by Prestonian Jake Harriman, is a global organization aimed at eliminating extreme poverty.  Formed at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Nuru’s model for fighting poverty targets remote rural areas.  Rather than providing handouts, Nuru is designed to equip local leaders and communities with the training and skills to be self-sustaining in order to provide quality education for children and fight hunger and preventable disease.  West Virginians know the importance of self-reliance and the power to provide that comes with the training and skills like those taught by Nuru’s staff.

100% of the proceeds from the 5K uRUN will go directly to Nuru International.  Let’s help Jake and his team make the world’s biggest problem a little easier to solve!

Event Location: The 5K is located around the Preston Country Club in Kingwood, WV. The course is mostly flat with one gentle hill. Although not blocked off to vehicles, the roads throughout the course are low traffic and will be staffed with volunteers. It's a beautiful run with a view of the West Viriginia hills and the Cheat River!
