About This Activity

The Warriors' Path Sprint & Olympic Triathlon takes place at Warriors' Path State Park in Kingsport, TN.  The swim portion is in Patrick Henry Lake.  The bike course is along scenic country roads with lots of shade.  The run course is entirely within the park with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Athena (women > 164lbs) and Clydesdale (men > 219lbs) categories are also available.

This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. If you do not have a USAT license, you will be required to purchase a $15 one-day license for insurance purposes.

Swim - 300 meters - This course is mainly an out and back across the lake. See Map- Sprint Swim Course

Bike - 7.5 miles - The Sprint bike course is an out and back along Fall Creek Road to the end of Old Mill and back.    See Map - Sprint Bike Course

Run - 5k - The Sprint run course is one loop around the park which includes one hill. See Map- Sprint Run Course

Swim - 1.5k- The Olympic Tri swim is mostly along the shoreline. See Map- Olympic Swim Course

Bike - 22 miles- The Olympic bike course starts along the same route as Sprint bike course and then continues along a hilly scenic loop.  Climbing Buttermilk is the first real challenge, then there are two very steep short climbs towards the middle of the course.  There are lots of rolling hills, but also some nice sections where you can really fly.  See Map-  Olympic Bike Course

Run - 10k - The Olympic run course is two loops around the park. See Map - Olympic Run Course

Parking will be in the large parking lot on the left as you enter the park.  You will need to walk or ride down the hill to the transition area on Duck Island.  No cars will be allowed across the causeway for the safety of the triathletes. The park is open to the public and all triathletes need to be aware that this event is not a closed event.  Please be aware of other park users.

In the event of light to moderate rain, and the absence of any lightning, our goal is to proceed with the full triathlon event as long as road conditions are safe and will allow the bike and run portions to take place.

If there is lightning in the area, the event is placed into a weather hold and can be held for up to one hour.  If the lightning has departed the area, the race can proceed as planned.  If there is still evidence of the potential for lightning in the area, the race can be converted into a duathlon (run, bike, run) by canceling the swim portion of the event.

If the swim and bike courses are determined to be unsafe, but the run course is determined to be safe, the event can be modified into a run only event.

If after one hour of a weather hold all three portions of the event are determined to be unsafe, the event can be cancelled.

The events have a one hour weather hold timeframe because each location impacts the safety of the event by such factors as other scheduled events at the locations, increasing traffic on bike and run courses as the morning passes, law enforcement and medical support schedules, and coordinated permit limitations if the weather hold exceeds one hour.

Due to the nature of multi-sport events taking place generally in the outdoors, weather conditions can play a large role in the production of the event.  Because a significant amount of the funds collected during registration have been expended by the day of the event for the production of the event and because each event is uniquely scheduled for its date and location, registration refunds are not possible and rescheduling the event is not possible, and thus the no refund policy.
