With the event turning 37 years old in 2019, the Sugarloaf Marathon is Maine’s oldest continuously run marathon, drawing hundreds of runners from all over the U.S. and Canada. Registration for the 2019 race will open on Monday, October 1, 2018 and will close on May 1, 2019 or when the event sell out.
Despite the mountainous surrounding, Sugarloaf's course is widely known as a fast course. The final 16 miles of the course have an elevation loss of 980 feet. It is common for runners to have personal best times on this course. With the race course winding along the beautiful Carrabassett River, the Sugarloaf race course has one of the most beautiful scenic backdrops in New England.
The Sugarloaf Marathon is an official qualifier for the Boston Marathon and USATF certified.
