About This Activity

We're making strides against poverty in our community, but we still have a long way to go.
While the overall poverty rate in Missouri has declined slightly since its peak in 2012, it's still significantly higher than a decade ago.
In Kansas City and throughout 26 surrounding counties, nearly 16% of individuals live in poverty. It's not only the homeless or unemployed anymore. Today, many hardworking families are stuck in the cycle of poverty.
Single mothers who work lead over 40% of low-income families. The poverty rate is nearly 20% among children under 18. That's one in five children in our community!

You can make a difference right now by joining the movement to Outpace Poverty.
On Saturday, June 18, walk or run to support families and individuals working toward self-sufficiency. We'll take steps together — as a community — to raise awareness and funds to fight poverty in our neighborhoods.
