About This Activity

As many as 1 million Americans live with Parkinson’s disease– that’s more than multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy and Lou Gehrig’s disease combined. Approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease each year, but there are thousands more whose disease goes undetected and yet Parkinson's is not a well-known, well supported disease in comparison.

2016 Event

On April 23, 2016, the 3rd Annual First Coast Parkinson’s 5K walk/run, 1 mile fun run, and a 5K Virtual Run is being held to raise money for the Movement Disorders and Parkinson’s Program at the UF Health Neuroscience Institute – Jacksonville. The funds raised from this event will benefit Parkinson’s patients through increased awareness, support groups and research as well as to contribute to multiple projects.

Awards Ceremony @ 10:15 AM


Awards will be presented to the top three men and women overall, first master’s male and female overall, and the top three in each of the following male and female age groups: 10 & under, 11-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+. Awards will also be given to Teams with the most participants in the following categories: Elementary School, High School, Middle School and Organization.

Packet Pickup

Packets will be available on Thursday, April 21st and Friday, April 22nd from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at your selected 1st Place Sports locations. Packets will be moved to the starting line for pickup beginning at 7:30 AM on Raceday.

Race Timing

The race will be timed using the MyLaps Chip Timing System (chip must be worn on your shoe during the race). Your entry fee covers the cost of the chip rental. If you have your own chip, you need to enter your chip number on the entry form, and deduct $2.00 from the entry fee.
