About This Activity
Age groups for the 5k
Overall m/f and masters m/f will get a trophy. Winners of each age group will receive a medal.
9 and under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up
Run/Swim/Run will have one age group, open Male/Female. Trophies will be awarded to the fastest male and female.
Open Division: 39 and under
Masters Division: 40 and up
For the Run-Swim-Run, open division has no age restrictions.
Come out for the 3rd annual 5k Jax Beach Challenge and support your local lifesavers. This year we will also be featuring a Run-Swim-Run event. The date of the event also coincides with the Opening of the Beaches Weekend. There will be plenty of things to do at Jax Beach after the race. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Jax Beach Ocean Rescue Competition Team.
Here are race detailes:
Where does the 5k start and finish? The start and finish is on the beach, in front of the lifeguard station. The race will start in front of the Lifeguard Station, which is located at #2 Oceanfront, Jacksonville Beach, Fl, 32250. Runners will head North for 2.5k, than turn around and head south. Finish line will be located next to the start line.
Where does the Run-Swim-Run Start? Run-Swim-Run and the 5k will start together. Participants will run North for ½ mile, turn around, and head back towards the starting line. Once at the starting line, participants will enter water in a designated spot, and swim around the apex (1/4 mile distance). Once participants are out of the water, they will repeat the run and finish next to the starting line.
Registration packets: Participant will get a packet containing event t-shirt and other goodies donated by our sponsors. (First-come, first-served rule applies to t-shirt and size availability).
Where do we park? Public parking is available across the street from the lifeguard station, in the public parking lot north of Sneakers Sports Bar and Grille.
Will there be bathrooms available? Yes, there will be bathrooms open to public use inside the Lifeguard Station.
What happens after the run? There will be water, snacks, and fruit available at the Station for all competitors. Winners must be present in order to claim their prizes. There will be several prizes awarded through a random drawing. All runners will be entered in the drawing. Participants are encouraged to stay after and watch the sandcastle competition happening on the beach just south of the lifeguard station.
