About This Activity
It is my pleasure to introduce to you uptown Fitness’s second annual “Cold Hands, Warm Heart” Health and Nutrition Fair to be held on February 8th, 2014. This event will include a 5-mile race or 8K created by the running experts at Gingerbread Running Man Company and the “Uptown Throwdown: Ultimate Fitness Challenge” put together by Uptown’s own personal trainers, which will include the 8K or 5 mile RUN and will be followed by military style challenges such as tire flips, rope pulls, army crawls and much, much more. These obstacles will take place indoors throughout the 4 story building of UpTown Fitness and will be sure to test your endurance, strength and toughness!
At the Health and Nutrition Fair we will offer a wide array of vendors, blood pressure screening booths, nutrition counseling, and food samples from local Indiana Restaurants and businesses. Expert advice on cardiac awareness will also be provided. All proceeds will be donated to Indiana’s local Center for Cardiac and Vascular Care at IRMC.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. As an emergency room registered nurse at IRMC, Haley has helped to save many lives from this preventable disease, however she has also seen many deaths from this disease as well. Jenn, manager of uptown FITNESS, helps to motivate and lead people to make healthy choices in their day to day lives through diet, exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. Together they strive to help people live a healthier, happier life. The goal with this event is to bring to the Indiana community a larger awareness of heart disease prevention, healthy lifestyle education, and finally an event that can have an impact on your life.
