A very fun 5K and Kid's K Run. This race has a reputation as being a very positive and fun event. 100% of the race profits will go to our designated autism based charities. In the five years the race has been held, donations have gone to organization such as Avondale House (Alex's school), Westview School, Organization for Autism Research and Autism Speaks.
RACE PURPOSE: The Bayou City Road Runners (BCRR) present the Alex’s Memorial 5K Run/Walk & Kids 1K to honor the life of Alex Jamrich. Alex, the 17 year-old Son of Milan Jamrich and Kathi Mahon, died unexpectedly one month short of his 18th birthday on May 15, 2010. Alex was autistic, and his death likely due to complications associated with autism. Alex was Kathi and Milan’s greatest joy, but his autism their greatest challenge. Friends agreed something should be done in honor of Alex’s life, as well as to promote autism awareness and raise money for research and services.
CHARITIES: The proceeds for the Third Annual Alex’s 5K Run/Walk & Kids 1K will go to non-profit autism based charities. More information about this year's beneficiaries can be obtained through the race website: www.alex5k.com.
