BEST OF ALL, THE PROCEEDS OF THIS EVENT WILL BENEFIT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA PROTON THERAPY INSTITUTE AND SPECIFICALLY THERE BOB FOR THE CHILDREN FUND:

The UFPTI for the Children Fund (the Fund) is associated with the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute (UFPTI) and is a 501C3 fully tax deductible foundation (ENI NO. 59-0974739).

The Fund was initiated in April 2011 by prostate cancer patients at UFPTI with the goal to reduce the fear children have while receiving proton treatment for their brain tumors. The fund is a male prostate cancer patient driven fund to support the children who have brain tumors and their families.

In addition, the Fund helps parents and family members cope with the many challenges they face while their children are receiving treatment and battling for their lives.

What the Fund Provides:

  1. Child Life Specialist - helps children reduce their fears, which shortens treatment times and allows for more children to be treated
  2. Medical Therapeutic Arts & Crafts - a way for children to express their fears and feelings and keeps children occupied during the long waiting hours
  3. Van Transportation - for families to and from the facility as many patients are here from other parts of the U.S. and from around the world that need local transportation
  4. Family Support - family fun nights for children and support group meetings for parents with counselors
  5. Personalized Blanket & Gator for each child - a colorful blanket to keep them warm during treatments
and a stuffed UF Gator for comfort with an injection port to help educate the child about the procedure
  6. iPads - for use at the facility to educate and entertain older children
