ABOUT SPLIT ROCK

Split Rock is a privately-owned gathering place of breathtaking natural beauty, nestled in the rolling wooded hills of North Carolina. Jenny Parker and Peter Rosenberg welcome a variety of groups to their property, both to experience the spiritual nature of the place and to enjoy the summer camp atmosphere they have cultivated there.

Split Rock is named after a huge Gibraltar-shaped rock pierced by a towering sweet gum tree that looks out over a lovely meadow along the drive. The property’s main feature, however, is a 4.5-acre natural swimming pond protected by steep slopes and dense woods on one side and overlooked by their home, swimming pool and pool house, and boathouse on the other. Hundreds of neighboring acres of undeveloped surrounding woodlands help complete the feeling of deep, pervasive solitude.

During the past five years, Jenny and Peter have developed a “summer camp” at Split Rock feel with the addition of a zip line over the pond, canoes and fishing equipment, lawn games, a large dock, floating raft, and pond-side gazebo. An 18-hole disc golf course also offers a relaxing tour of the property’s landmarks, and a trail system through the forested areas traverses an expanding woodland playground for young children.
