About This Activity

Did you know that 1 in 10 adults in the U.S. have hearing loss? Or that the number of people with hearing loss has doubled over the past 30 years? Hearing loss has grown to touch the lives of many Americans. Yet, among the many people who could benefit from hearing aids, only 1 in 5 currently use them.

Access to hearing health care and the cost of hearing aids are major barriers to those seeking treatment for their hearing loss. Most insurance plans, including Medicare, do not pay anything toward the cost of hearing aids.

The Fisher Foundation was established in 2008, by Dr. Ronna Fisher, Au.D., the owner and founder of the Hearing Health Center, to increase the accessibility, affordability, and public awareness of hearing health. We are the resource that others may turn to for assistance when they have no other access or funding for hearing health care. We provide educational seminars, counseling, and research in the North Shore and surrounding areas, so that we may raise public awareness of the acute importance of protection, detection, and treatment of hearing disorders to creating overall good health. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life through better hearing.

We don't want finances to be the reason someone cannot hear. That's why we are holding our first annual Hike 4 Better Hearing. Funds raised will be used to help people obtain hearing aids at low or no cost. This will allow them to reconnect with family, friends and co-workers.

We hope that we can count on your support to help us provide the gift of hearing to more patients who are unable to afford hearing aids themselves.
