The Elegance Challenge 5K
Sat, Jun 14, 2014
About This Activity
The course uses the winding Grand Ascent hill climb car racing course behind the Hotel Hershey as the basis for a challenging 5k. Starting in the pit area of the car race, you will run past dozens of historically significant vintage race cars before ascending 200’ to the one-mile mark. The course returns to the bottom of the hill for a flat and fast section along Swatara Creek and back to the Start/Finish line. Runners receive Tech shirts, cool down snacks and other surprises, along with VIP Parking and FREE admission to the day’s auto racing! A total of $1,500 will be split between the fastest overall male and female, the top two finishers in each age group, and the oldest and youngest finishing runners.

This is a USATF Certified 5k course run on asphalt. The majority of the course is run under a canopy of trees and is fairly well shaded. The start/finish line is on Boat House Road, approximately ¼ mile from Hershey Road. The first mile starts flat before turning up the twisty hill climb on the back side of the Hotel Hershey. The second mile continues down the winding access road and turns north on Boat House Road. There is a turnaround at the entrance of Boat House Road Park (Sand Beach Road). The last mile is a fairly flat return to the start/finish line.
