About This Activity

South Woods Elementary School was opened in 2005 and currently serves 600 students. It has been designated by the Florida Department of Education as an "B" school. It is our intention to provide every child with a world class academic experience!

South Woods Elementary School is a Title 1 school, in which over 80% of our student body is economically disadvantaged. All of the proceeds from the Spud Run and the Cabbage Crawl will go directly to the South Woods PTO.

We are excited to host the 6th annual Spud Run and Cabbage Crawl. As members of the Hastings community, we are proud to raise awareness about our area’s contributions to agriculture throughout the state of Florida and beyond. We encourage everyone to come out and join us for a beautiful run through the Hastings countryside, followed by live entertainment for the whole family!!

6:00 AM - Registration/Packet Pick up begins

8:30 AM - 5K Start
9:30 AM - Cabbage Crawl Fun Run Start

5K Preregistered = $20
5K Race Day Registration = $25

10K Preregistered = $25
10K Race Day Registration = $30

Kids Fun Run Only = $6 (Includes T-shirts for pre-registrants 14 and under only)

In the event of inclement weather, emergency or a natural disaster, the SWES PTO reserves the right to cancel the race or start at a later time. In the event of cancellation for any reason, there will be no refunds.

The 15K Challenge will combine a participant's times from the separate 10K and 5K races.  The top male and the female will receive awards.  Challenge participants will be eligible for the 10K and 5K awards.  Challenge participants must be able to complete the 10K under 1 hour and 30 minutes, in order to start the 5K at 8:30 AM.

The 15K Challenge is not a 15K race.  The 15K Challenge is simply an event that combines the results of the separately run 10K and 5K races.  Because of the timing of the starts of the 10K and 5K races (7:00 AM and 8:30 AM respectively), in order to compete in the 15K Challenge, a participant must be able to finish the 10K in less than 1 hour and 30 minutes.  If a 15K Challenge registrant finishes the 10K in under 1 hour and 30 minutes, they will then wait until the start of the 5K at 8:30 AM to begin that race.  If a 15K Challenge registrant finishes the 10K in over 1 hour and 30 minutes, the 5K will have already begun, and they will not be able to complete the challenge. They will be scored in the 10K.  In addition to being scored in the 15K Challenge results, a 15K Challenge finisher will also be separately scored in the 10K and 5K results. A 15K Challenge finisher will be eligible for awards in all three events.

Spud Run & Cabbage Crawl T-Shirts will be given to everyone who registers by 4/10/2015. T-Shirts will be given to participants who have not pre-registered on a first come, first serve basis.

Registrations will be accepted the morning of the race.

Race Day Registration and race packet pick up will begin at 6:00 AM the day of the race. This will be a Chip timed Race. Runners can pick up their time chip when they check in and get their race day packets.

Pre-race day packet pick up is available on Friday, May 1st from 9 AM - 1 PM and 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM at South Woods Elementary School.

Pre-registration is encouraged.

The overall male and female winners of the 15K Challenge will receive an award and a crate of mixed produce.

Overall male and female winners of both the 10K and 5K will receive awards.

1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes will be awarded to both male and female runners in the following age groups, in both the 10K and 5K: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & up.

Runner’s race tickets will be pulled to win drawing prizes.

The race will be professionally scored and timed at the start and finish by RaceSmith, Inc.  The race will be timed using disposable, electronic tags attached to the bib number.  Please wear your bib number to the front, pinned at all four corners, visible, and unaltered.  Results will be posted at the race and then online immediately following the race at  www.RaceSmith.com
