About This Activity
This our fifth annual “Lace Up” 5K Cross Country Run/Walk and 1 mile Family Fun Walk that raises money to bring hope to orphans & foster care children. Do you have a love for children? Your own children, foster children, global orphans? If so this family fun Run/Walk is for you!
Our fundraising efforts will be directed to two causes. Locally, we will support the Royal Family Kids Camp Hartland (www.hartland.royalfamilykids.org) which is a summer camp for children in the foster care system who have been abused, neglected and abandoned. Globally, we are partnering with Orphan Outreach (www.orphanoutreach.com) to support the Jelgava City Orphanage in Jelgava, Latvia. This includes humanitarian aid, life skills training, mentoring, employment help and Bible studies.
This race is one of the few 5K cross country runs in the area. It starts off on the soccer field at Lake Country Lutheran High School & works its way across the street into a beautiful wooded trail with the finish line back on the Lake Country Lutheran's grounds. This is a timed race & during the post-race celebration awards will be given for the top runners by gender & age groups.
If not interested in running, you can also do a delayed start after the runners & walk the same 5K course or take a 1 Mile Family Fun Walk around the pond on the grounds of Lake Country Lutheran. New this year will also be a kids 1 Mile "Fun Run" post the main race events, at approximately 10:45, free of charge for any child under 10 years old that might be interested in participating and was a paid race participant.
Post-race join us indoors in the Great Hall at the school for a post-race Celebration complete with (more than typical) food, drinks, music, kids’ activities, adoption & foster care information, race results & awards.

Event details and schedule
The 5K run will start promptly at 10am. Please note there is a short walk from the indoor registration out to the starting line, so please plan your arrival time accordingly. Following the 5K runners start, the 5K Walkers will start immediately after & then the family fun walk will follow at approximately 10:10am due to having a different race route.
Plenty of parking will be available in Lake Country Lutheran High School's Parking Lot.
Even though this race is in November (due to local high school cross country teams donating their timing equipment to us for free, so more fundraising dollars can go directly towards our cause), we have always lucked out with great weather. Hopefully with a few extra layers you will be comfortable & have a great time race day!
Please note that because this is a cross country course, strollers are not recommended due to course terrain.
Please "Like" us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter & watch for more race day updates year round. If you can share our Facebook updates & help us spread the word as well, we would be so grateful. www.facebook.com/LaceUp5Krun OR Twitter:@laceup4orphans OR Instgram: laceup4orphans
