About This Activity

Start your summer off right and celebrate Father’s Day weekend with a visit to the Middle of the Mitten for the 2nd Annual “Middle-O-’Mit” triathlon. Organizers and the communities within Clare County were excited about hosting the first multisport event in Harrison last year and are enthusiastic about making it bigger and better for 2015!

This year’s youth triathlon will be a well-organized event for both competitive and beginner multisport athletes.  Kids will complete a shorter, youth-appropriate distance event with volunteers lining the swim course and assisting in transition. The goal of this event will be to expose children to triathlon, build confidence in them, and of course, to have fun! Kids who want to compete a bit harder may enter the Youth Open Division, where rules are strictly enforced and the event is timed.  Open division youth athletes will go out onto the same road and run courses as the big folk.

Hey, why not make it a weekend event? Reserve your campsite right at the park so that you’ll be close to the action all weekend.  Organizers are working on some pretty cool incentives for those who choose to spend the weekend at Wilson State Park.

NOTE: A portion of the proceeds from ALL Tri To Finish events goes to the Johnny Burke Children’s Foundation. Organizers of the Middle O’ Mit have committed to matching Tri To Finish’s donation for this event!

Event details and schedule

Date:  Saturday, June 20th, 2015

Start Time:  8:00 AM

Location:  Wilson State Park

Address:  910 N First Street, Harrison, MI 48625

Course Description

Situated on 36 wooded acres, Wilson State Park is located on the north end of Budd Lake in Clare County. A sandy beach on a beautiful inland lake is the setting for a triangular swim where Sprint and Olympic distance athletes will complete a single lap.

The bike event will be on an open road course after heading out of the park. The road is hilly, smooth, and fairly straight. Both the Sprint and Olympic distances are out and back.

The run event takes athletes the opposite direction when leaving the park. Athletes will run counter-clockwise around Budd Lake. Both the Sprint and Olympic run events are out and backs.

ONLY athletes (and parents for Youth Participants) are allowed in the transition area.  Once transition closes, it will remain closed to athletes until the LAST biker has exited transition.  The Transition Captain may choose to begin allowing early access to a limited numbers of athletes to retrieve their gear but this will be at his/her discretion.  If given access, PLEASE remain respectful of athletes who are still competing and may be entering/exiting transition.  Safety is foremost, but security is important too so you must exit transition at the point deemed proper by the Transition Captain and provide proof (i.e., race bib or id) of ownership of bike with number decal affixed.

OVERALL FASTEST MALE & FEMALE in the Olympic Tri, Sprint Tri, and Sprint Distance Duathlon wins free entry to next years race as well as a yet to be announced award.

Podium Presentation for OVERALL winners of each event – Male and Female – will begin approximately 15 minutes after the last Overall Winner crosses the finish line for each event.

AGE GROUP Awards for each event will begin ONLY after the last participant in that event crosses the finish line (or once event cutoff time has been reached).   Participants MUST be present to receive Age Group Awards*.

* We apologize for any inconvenience this presents, but we truly believe that each Multisport Event is exactly that:  an EVENT.  Age Groupers finish at different times throughout races.  It is unfair and unsportsmanlike to begin ceremonies for which a participant may be eligible for an award if that participant has not yet reached the finish line.  Please be courteous of and encouraging to fellow athletes.

FREE Finisher Photos

As we’ve done from the outset, Tri To Finish provides FREE Finisher Photos from Meaningful Moments Photography available for download to participants.  No strings attached!

Results will be displayed at the event and will be posted at TRITOFINISH.COM within 48 hours of race completion.

Interested in volunteering?  Events like this can’t be successful without great volunteers!  Sign up HERE and we’ll be in touch.  All volunteers receive a cool, Tri To Finish logo’d tech t-shirt courtesy of ATS Printing in Merrill, MI!

Refund Policy

We completely understand that plans change and athletes will sometimes be unable to compete in an event they've signed up for.  Unfortunately, refunds will not be provided for any event unless the event is cancelled for some reason.

Should an athlete have an injury or other medical issue keeping them from competing in an event they've registered for, then we would be happy to transfer their registration to a similar event up to and including the same event the following season.

Transferring registrations to other athletes is NOT allowed.
