- MAIN RACE -
2 mile Pua'ena Pt Triangle Course
The main course is a 2 mile triangle course that heads straight out from Surf n Sea about 1 mile, a right turn back towards Pua'ena Pt, another right turn around the Pua'ena Pt rock, and then back towards Surf n Sea. The Main race course is 2 laps & 4 miles total.
This course is beautiful! With stunning views of the North Shore coastline, all the way from Ka'ena Pt to Waimea Bay, and everything in between. This course is a stand up paddler's dream, with a variety of paddling and racing conditions all in one protected course. Downwind, side wind, small swells and bumps to ride, turns, and 100 of your best paddler friends to share it with.
Please familiarize yourself with the course, as it can be challenging for a novice paddler.
The Main Race starts at 8:45 am, and well before the NE tradewinds pick up. If you are concerend with paddling against the tradewinds, the trick is to PADDLE FAST!! Sounds silly like a no brainer, but if you are starting your second lap before 9:45, you will not be too affected by the trades. If not, this leg of the course is fairly short. Finish that first lap fast.
The main thing here is to have fun! If you only want to do 1 lap that is fine.
