About This Activity

Run Free Greenville is offering a FREE virtual run for kids 14 and under! A virtual run can be done anywhere you choose but please keep within the social distancing guidelines.

 

The goal of this virtual run is to get kids out of their quarantined bedrooms and participating in a healthy activity like running! This run is for every level of runner with four different run distances!

 

This event is completely FREE and your athlete can attempt the run as many times as they would like but please only submit their fastest times when you go to fill out the Google form for their results. 

 

Your youth runner may also run as many event distances as they would like but please submit a separate form for each distance they complete.

We will compile results and post overall winners along with the following age groups categories on May 10th!
  • 0-2 Years
  • 3-4 Years
  • 5-6 Years
  • 7-8 Years
  • 9-10 Years
  • 11-13 Years

 

Run Distance Options

  • 100 Meter Dash
    • This activity must be measured OR recorded on a track. 
    • One straight away that is marked on a track will indicate Start & Finish for 100 meters
  • 400 Meter Run
    • This activity must be measured OR recorded on a local certified track. 
    • One Lap around the track is 400 meters
  • 1 Mile Run
    • This activity must be done with a fitness tracker (Strava, Garmin, Nike, MapMyRun, etc) or recorded on a local certified track 
    • 4 Laps on a Track is a Mile
  • 5k Run 
    • This activity must be done with a fitness tracker (Strava, Garmin, Nike, MapMyRun, etc) 

 

Ways to measure distances

 

Fitness Apps

RunKeeper, Pacer, and Strava. These apps can be downloaded for free on any iOS or Android devices. 
 

Smartwatch, Running, or GPS Watches 

Parents may be able to use their smartwatches or running watches to measure the distances for their children.
 

Google Map Measurements 

Google Maps allows the ability to measure distances.
 

Hop in the car! 

For longer distances like the mile and 5k, you can use your car to drive around the block and watch your odometer go up!
