About This Activity

The East Carolina Alumni Association presents the tenth annual Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run! Join fellow alumni and friends as we race to raise funds for ECU scholarships. Runners of all ages will enjoy the 5K road race or one-mile fun run.


About Our Race
All proceeds from the Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run benefit East Carolina Alumni Association scholarships. The alumni association annually awards scholarships to qualified undergraduates for the following academic year. To date, the alumni association has awarded 252 scholarships totaling nearly $350,000.

Date & Time
Saturday, April 22, 2017. The 5K road race begins at 8:00 a.m.; the 1M fun run begins immediately following the start of the 5K. The road race will take place rain or shine.

Location
The start area is located at U.B.E. at the corner of Cotanche Street and Reade Circle.

Registration
The entry fee for the road race or fun run is $20 through Feb. 28, $25 March 1-April 21, and $30 on race day. Registration on race day begins at 7:00 a.m. Registrations received prior to Wednesday, March 15 will be guaranteed a race T-shirt.

The maximum number of participants is 700. Registration will close at 700 participants, which may occur before race day. Advance registration is strongly encouraged.

*Proceeds fund annual scholarships with any balance supporting the scholarship endowment.

Race Course (map it)
The 5K race begins on Reade Circle adjacent to West End Dining Hall in uptown Greenville. It then turns east on Fifth Street and travels next to campus to just before Village Glen Apartments. Timing and chip scoring by Run the East. The fun run follows part of the same route. 5K results will be available at www.runtheeast.com.

Check-in
Each participant will receive a packet containing an event T-shirt and number bib with timing chip at check-in, which will begin at 7:00 a.m. on race day. Check-in can also be completed Thursday, April 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday, April 21, the day before the race, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at U.B.E.

Awards
Awards will be presented to the first three male finishers overall, to the first three female finishers overall, and the top three male and female finishers in each of the age groups below. No awards will be presented to fun run participants.
