About This Activity

This will be the 18th year for the Granite Bay Triathlon. It has been called California's Toughest Sprint Triathlon and it is know for a beautiful course - and this year will have New races with a Duathlon, Kids Duathlon, and Trail Run! Each athlete will receive post race lunch a race tech-tee shirt, athlete goody bag, and a chance at both age-group awards and raffle prizes.

In addition to our Granite Bay Triathlon with a .75 mile swim-13 mile bike-5 mile run, we will add the Granite Bay Duathlon with a 2 mile run-13 mile bike-5 mile run, the Kids 5-Mile Duathlon (.5m run-3.5 m bike-1m run) and a scenic Five Mile Trail Run. All with age-group awards (ten-year age groups for the Duathlon and Trail Run and two-year age groups for the Kids Duathlon).

The races start from Granite Beach in Folsom Lake SRA, where the water will be approximately 64 degrees. The Triathlon will start with a .75 mile swim from the beach area. Wetsuits are recommended.

The 13-mile bike course for the Triathlon and Duathlon  is a TWO-LAP course located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. After the second loop you will return into the transition area.

The 5-mile run course leaves transition and runs on single-track trails along the lake back towards Beals Point. The out and back course has 3 aid stations that will be stocked with water, FLUID electrolyte beverage, and energy gels.

Included for each competitor is a custom tech-tee race shirt, a swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar and Emerald Nuts product samples.

First place Overall Male and Female in the Granite Bay Triathlon and Duathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group for the Granite Bay Triathlon and five deep in each ten-year age group for the Duathlon and Trail Run. The Kids 5-Mile Duathlon will have age group awards for each two-year age group.
