Event details and schedule

1M @ 8:00 AM; 5K @ 8:30 AM

Our racing mission continues to be to produce affordable, hedonistically fun & athletically competitive races, that are technically sound (correctly-measured courses with minimum turns and visible distance – mile or Km – markers), that also benefit some charity(-ies) with a populist & gender parity focus – for the average runner/walker (including the novices) and also for the seasoned, serious racer.

On July 11th we held the Race Against misogyny & sexism (RAMS IX) 5K/1M race to address the rampant sexism (and misogyny) in our world. Well, on 17 June 2015, another of those sad and cruel humankind’s “isms” – racism – reared its ugly head in Charleston, SC. On that day 9 members of the Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Charleston were murdered as they communed with a Loving and Encompassing God by an act of abject racism.

So To:

Sharonda Coleman-Singleton /   Cynthia Hurd /   Susie Jackson /   Ethel Lance /   Depayne Middleton Doctor /

Clementa Pinckney /   Tywanza Sanders /   Daniel Simmons / Mira Thompson

May your souls rest in perfect & everlasting peace in “that place where there is no pain or grief” and where the glory of our Loving God shines brightly perpetually! Whether in the darkness & gloom of midnight or in the brightness & sunrise of morning, God -- our God of Forgiveness, of Grace, of Healing, of Hope, of Love, of Mercy & of Peace – remains in control. And to Him be the glory & the gratitude!

A scholarship fund – the Reverend Pinckney Scholarship Fund – has been set up for the benefit, relief and healing of the families of the victims and their extended families in the membership of the Mother Emanuel AME Church.

September 6th will be 81 (or 9 x 9) days after that horrific incident. This race on that day will be in memory of those 9 gentle souls who transitioned from this mortal life on that fateful day. The race name deliberately features multiple references to the number 9. It provides an opportunity to engage in a road race and also contribute toward the Reverend Pinckney Scholarship Fund. The net race proceeds will benefit the Reverend Pinckney Scholarship Fund. The race also engages an active advocacy for racial tolerance.  Copies of the civil rights anthem, We Shall Overcome, will be available at the race.

In all things, God remains in control. And to Him be the glory & the gratitude!
