About This Activity
Welcome to the 4th Annual Optimism Race for Parkinson's Disease !
Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Outpatient Rehabilitation is partnering with the American Parkinson Disease Association – Arizona Chapter to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's disease. We would like to invite you to support our 4th Annual Optimism Run/Walk for Parkinson’s disease taking place on October 10, 2015 in Glendale, AZ.
Individuals and families from across the Phoenix-metro area will gather together at Midwestern University Glendale Campus on October 10th to walk and run in support of the more than 35,000 living with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s in Arizona. The event will raise awareness and funds to support local programs and services in the hope of creating a better way of life for those living with the disease.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder caused by the loss of specific groups of nerve cells in the brain. Parkinson’s affects people of all ages, but becomes increasingly common as people get older. More than a million individuals in the United States have the disease, including 1 out of every 100 over the age of 60.
