About This Activity

The 2nd Annual David Reynolds Memorial Foundation 5K, 1 Mile Walk & Kids Fun Run will be held on Saturday, 22 October 2016 at 8 am at Arundel High School.

Due to the success of the 1st Annual 5K, 1Mile Walk & Kids Fun Run and donations received in 2015 the David Reynolds Memorial Foundation:

  • Awarded 3 scholarships ($2,500, $1,500, $500) to graduating seniors
  • Funded 36 students to attend an Initiative and Confidence Trust Building Course at Arlington Echo
  • Distributed 9 anti-stress kits for guidance counselors to use with students at Arundel High School.

The David Reynolds Memorial Foundation was established to honor David Reynolds who passed away at the young age of 24, on February 26, 2015.

David attended Waugh Chapel Elementary and Arundel Middle and graduated from Arundel High School in 2009. Growing up he was involved in boy scouts, soccer, wrestling and archery and played for several years on GORC baseball and basketball teams. David was academically brilliant and gifted, graduating in the top 5% of his class. He participated in the National Honor Society, Student Government Association, Math, Engineering, Science and Architecture Club, Kick Off Mentors, Future Business Leaders of America, peer helpers, and ran cross country.

Family and friends remember David for his infectious laugh, his big blue eyes and huge smile. David celebrated life and in order to honor him the foundation has been established to help others.

The David Reynolds Memorial Foundation's mission is to fund at least one scholarship annually to a graduating student at Arundel High School who is pursuing a degree in the mental health field (social work, counseling, psychology and addictions). In addition, the mission is to provide funding to Arundel High School counseling groups for therapeutic materials (workbooks, books, and games).

The 2016 5K, 1 mile Walk and Kids Fun Run will benefit Arundel High School students in 2016-2017. The proceeds will fund scholarship(s), the Initiative and Confidence Course at Arlington Echo and support to the counseling services at Arundel High School.
