FRIENDS is the only national volunteer non-profit organization dedicated solely to empowering young people who stutter and their families. Our mission is to provide support and education to people who stutter, their families, and clinicians. We believe that every child, teen, and adult deserves to live in a world where they are accepted and empowered.
FRIENDS presents regional one-day conferences around the country throughout the year, hosting a one-day conference in Columbus, Ohio on March 4, 2017. A large annual convention is held each July. The 20th Annual Anniversary Convention will be held in Orlando, Florida, July 20-22, 2017.
We not only serve young people and their families, but also provide invaluable education to SLPs and graduate students and welcome adults who stutter into our community as volunteers.
This is our second 5K Walk/Run to raise money for FRIENDS. All profits are used for scholarships for families, graduate students and PhD. students. In 2016, our first 5K Walk/Run raised $11,000 which helped many families and students attend the annual convention and one-day conferences. We have sponsorship opportunities ranging from $50 to $500. We welcome in-kind donations; however, in-kind donations may only represent 50% of the total sponsorship level.
