Horse Country & Springs Tour

Event Date

Sun, Oct 26, 2014

Gainesville, FL

About This Activity

An inn-to-inn cycling adventure for a small group of riders who are looking for a different kind of Florida touring experience.  The group size is kept small so each rider can get the best support possible.  The Tour will spend 3 nights in Gainesville, FL at the Hampton Inn and 2 nights in High Springs, FL at the High Springs Country Inn.

Route highlights include a ride thru the Paynes Prairie Preserve and the Alachua Sinks, a visit to the Historic home of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (author of The Yearling), and a chance to explore the amazing cycling opportunities in the horse country around Micanopy, FL.

And that’s just the first half of the tour!

When the tour leaves Gainesville we will travel to the once booming tourist town of High Springs, now quieter and less touristy but still home to an amazing collection of clear blue springs and wonderful landscape.  Our route will take us along the Santa Fe River and thru Oleno State Park before we visit the well known Ichetucknee Springs.  Riders who wish can also enjoy a “pedal and paddle route”.  A day of riding followed by a kayak adventure on the Santa Fe to visit a dozen or so natural springs.

All this coupled with terrific support, great meals and the companionship of your fellow riders make this tour a surefire favorite.

This is a fully supported tour, limited to 20 riders, which allows us to provide the very best support possible. Accommodations will be in three star or better hotels and riders will be treated to great breakfast and dinner daily.  Snacks and sports drinks are provided while you are on the bike.  Two vehicles will travel with the riders: A luggage van and a SAG vehicle.  There is also a staff sweep rider each day.  Maps, cue sheets and GPS tracks are provided and the route will be marked each day ahead of the riders.
